USEFUL COMPUTATION RULES
To compute the area of a square, rectangle or parallelogram.
Multiply the length by the width.
To compute the area of a triangle.
Multiply the length of the base by 1/2 of the
perpendicular height.
To compute the diameter of a circle.
Multiply the circumference by .31831.
To compute the circumference of a circle.
Multiply the diameter by 3.1416.
To compute the area of a circle.
Multiply the square of the diameter by .7854.
To compute the cubical contents of any solid.
Multiply the length by the breadth (or height) by
the thickness, viz., 42’6 length x 3’3” height x
2’4” thick - 322.245 cubic ft. If the number of
cubic yards is required, divide the answer in
cubic feet by 27, as there are 27 cubic feet in a
cubic yard.
To compute the surface of a sphere.
Multiply the square of the diameter by 3.1416.
To convert Celsius to Fahrenheit.
Multiply the degrees of Celsius by 9, divided by
5 and add 32.
To convert Fahrenheit into Celsius.
Subtract 32 from the decrees of Fahrenheit,
multiply by 5 and divide by 9.
